The diet is very low in calories (roughly 1000 or less per day) and is categorized as a high protein, low carb plan that focuses on shakes, nutritional bars and other pre-packaged selections.
What is the self prepared meal comprised of?
You have some liberty and attitude here! The rules? Must be 6 ounce of protein, and the rest of the "plate" must be filled with green and colored veggies. Note: Lots of "Medifasters" really load up on the veggies here and eat until they can't move, and still find the weight drops off like magic..:-) The protein part of the meal must be 6 ounces or less though, so don't cheat on the fish, chicken or beef! (or even tofu if you are a vegetarian)
How does Medifast taste? Any good?
This is a very subjective question, of course....but I personally love the shakes (chocolate is my favorite) and will even use them as "desert" even while I'm off the program. The good news? There are over 60 different selections to choose from, and include far more than bars and shakes, most of us really like the taste..and the chances are, with that large of a selection, you will find something you really do as well.
