Which is Better, Medifast Or Optifast? By Jason Main

Replacement food plans have become quite the trend in today's weight loss systems. Alongside workout routines and radical surgery, substituting your food with healthy options have helped many dieters achieve their weight losing aspirations. These include two popular and competing brands: Medifast and Optifast food plans. It's time to pit these two in a Medifast vs. Optifast face-off.
MEDIFAST
The Medifast weight loss system revolves around their innovative 5&1 Food Plan. In this plan, you get to eat 6 meals a day, all of them prepared and pre-proportioned by Medifast. The 5&1 Plan boasts of lower calorie content, thus promising up to 20 lbs of weight loss per month. With over 60 different food choices, Medifast also gives you the freedom to choose the food that suits you the most. This makes the transition to healthy eating easier.
OPTIFAST
While Medifast zeroes in on weight problems, the Optifast food program boasts of an over-all treatment that reduces not only weight but health-related risks as well. Optifast food products also target reduction of cholesterol and glucose. However, due to the limited food choices, Optifast may be a bit harder getting used to. You would have to make the abrupt jump from your normal eating to a steady diet of shakes and bars
So, who wins this Medifast vs. Optifast head-to-head? Your body has certain characteristics that may help determine the better food plan for you. If you're merely looking for weight loss, then Medifast meals may be perfect for you. But, if you're planning to address other health issues as well, you're better off sticking to the Optifast diet program. Whichever way you swing, it is always best to consult a physician or health expert for the most suitable weight loss option for you.

Can The Pounds Come Off Too Fast On Medifast? By Lindsey Price

I sometimes hear from people who are interested in the Medifast diet but who worry about whether it's a truly safe or sensible option. One common concern is how fast the weight comes off. Some folks witness the perceived results of others and worry that the weight loss happens too quickly to be viewed as optimal.
I heard from someone who said: "one of my good friends started Medifast a couple of months ago. She has lost a drastic amount of weight. I am inspired by her weight loss, but I'm wondering if it is all too much. Do you lose weight too quickly on Medifast?" I can certainly tell you my opinion on this but please keep in mind that I am not a doctor nor am I a member of the company itself. So it might be a decent idea to ask these folks if you still have concerns.
Why I Believe That Medifast Weight Loss Is Sensible: I realize that some people might disagree with me, but I don't find this to be a fad diet. You eat no less than six times per day. You take in well over 1,000 calories each day. And you eat one larger fresh meal that you prepare for yourself. You are also allowed to have two additional approved snacks on top of the six meals per day. So it's not as if you are eating nothing but the diet's foods. You do take in a good deal of fresh foods each day.
In terms of the speed with which you lose the weight, this varies from person to person. The statistics indicate a range of 2 - 5 pounds per week initially with the loss tapering off after that. If you look at the numbers for the first month, the average range is about nine pounds or around 2.5 pounds per week. Now of course, some people will do better and some may even do worse. But I don't think that these numbers are that alarming. This is only a moderate and not severe rate of weight loss. In general, most people agree that the faster the weight comes off, the better the chance is that it will come back just as quickly. That's why it's preferable that you take the weight off gradually, to give yourself the best chance of keeping it off.
I had no way of knowing how much weight this women's friend had lost. It could have been that she started off not that large to begin with so even a moderate amount of loss appeared to be more than it actually was. Or, it could have been that she had been exercising and she looked leaner and more toned, giving the appearance of severe weight loss. (The company recommends that you take it easy as far as exercise goes for the first couple of weeks.)
But to answer the question posed from my own opinion, I don't feel that most people lose weight too quickly on this diet. And I suspect that people who do are over exercising (which certainly isn't recommended) or not following the diet as designed.

Medifast Results - How Much Weight Can You Expect to Lose on Medifast? By Jenni Kerala

You've seen the disclaimer on every weight loss ad. Results not typical. So the question is, what kind of results are typical? My best experience is with the Medifast weight loss program so I thought I would share my own results. I don't think there is really any such thing as "typical" when it comes to weight loss, but maybe my Medifast story can help you.
To give you an idea of whether or not you can expect the same kind of Medifast results that I experienced, let me tell you what my starting stats were. Before going on the program, I was a little over 100 pounds overweight. I'm also around 5'9 and I'm in my early 40s.
Medifast's advertising claims that you can lose 20 lbs in 30 days. I actually found this to be true for my first two months. The first month, I lost a little bit over 20 lbs and the second month I lost about the same. By the time my third month rolled around, my weight loss slowed a bit. I ended up losing a total of 53 lbs over three months. This result is actually quite good and I expect my weight loss to continue at a steady pace.
I think if you have quite a bit of weight to lose on Medifast you should be able to see results similar to my experience. I have tried to keep my diet pretty simple. My daily routine is usually three shakes, one hot cocoa, one Medifast bar and then my lean & green meal. Most of my Lean & Green meals are Chicken Caesar Salad without the croutons. I also drink plenty of water.
Medifast is actually pretty easy to stick to once you get past the first three or four days. By then the mild ketosis effect kicks in so you don't feel too hungry. My big complaint is that after a few months the food can get a bit boring, but you can also start doing some of the different recipes that people share online.
Overall, I think my Medifast weight loss results have turned out pretty well. I'm not at goal weight yet, but I'm well on my way there. My best tip is that if you want to try Medifast yourself, give it your best shot. Stick to the plan as they outline it and make sure you have a good lean & green meal every day because that really is going to be something you look forward to having. So make sure it satisfies your appetite.
Also, only order the Medifast products that you like. Don't force yourself to consume anything of theirs you don't care for just because you spent money. You are more likely to cheat if you aren't satisfied.
If you'd like a rundown of some of my favorite Medifast foods, for tips on what to order and what to avoid, then check out all of my Medifast food reviews.

Medifast Diet - A Program That is Very Low in Calories And No Brainer Approach to Weight Loss By Harold McDaniels

Medifast diet is a program that is popular in having helped a lot of people shed extra pounds. It is based on the principle of ketosis, which is a biological process where the body burns fat in order to get energy. This partakes when a person has a reduced intake of calories. Taking this into account the Medifast meal contains no sugar or carbohydrates.
The program has been in existent for over twenty-five years. There are a number of clinical trials that proved it to be effective. It is also very highly recommended by institutions such as the NIH and John Hopkins. It is not required that the dieter will have to starve him/herself. You will be eating a meal every 2-3 hours a day. The dieter will be eating Medifast meals in exchange to his/her regular meals. The program will consist of a plan of 5 small meals in a day comprising of soup, bars, oatmeal, etc. You will also be able to eat lean and green comprising of a small portion of meat and up to two cups of vegetables or salads. Shakes will be prepared with water instead of milk.
The meals in the program will be able to fulfill the daily recommended nutritional requirements needed by the body. You will be able to see visible results in just a few days. You can lose 2-5 pounds in just a week. For better results, it is recommended that you exercise in order to ensure that you will not be gaining back the pounds you already lost. You will also have the need to hydrate while you are on the regimen.
Like any other programs, it is still best to consult with a physician.

How to Prepare For the Medifast Diet By Lindsey Price

Sometimes, I hear from people who are getting ready to or have just placed their first medifast order. In the meantime, they often want to know what they should be doing to prepare for their order's arrival. In short, they want to know how to set it up so that they have the best chance for quick success. In the following article, I'll offer some tips on how to best prepare yourself to get started.
Gather Up Some Lean And Green Meal Recipes And Understand What Is Required: It's my opinion and experience that most people who are attracted to medifast really like the fact that most of the work is done for you. For the most part, many of us love that we don't have to do all that much cooking and food preparation. But, the company does want for you to eat one larger, main meal each day. This is called your "lean and green meal." I remember that when I first read about this, I was reluctant. I didn't want to have to think about anything other than what was provided for me.
But, the lean and green meal is there for some very good reasons. You need the fresh foods. You need to learn how to shop and prepare for healthful meals. And, you need regular fuel so that you can get and stay in ketosis. So, it makes sense to be ready for this when your shipment arrives.
All that is really required of this meal is 5 - 7 ounces of lean protein and three servings of vegetables. This doesn't need to be elaborate or difficult. You can do this with a serving of meat and three sides or a salad. You can make or assemble a stir fry or one pot meal. You can have a soup or stew. Or, you can try some slow cooker or crock pot meals. You'll want to make this easy on yourself, especially in the beginning.
Take some time to gather up some recipes that you'd find appealing and shop for their ingredients before your shipment arrives. You don't want to be scrambling once it's time to really get started. You want for the process to be as easy and stress free as possible.
Find Something To Focus On Once You Start The Diet: I believe that one of major pitfalls that some people fall into when starting medifast is that they over think this whole thing. They make the process harder than it is. For the most part, you're provided with everything that you need. You're basically only responsible for one meal per day. Worrying about more than this is really make things too difficult. When people over think this, they start sabotaging themselves.
It really can help in the early days of the diet if you place your focus on a balance of things. You don't want to place too much pressure on yourself. I also hear people tell me that they don't want to start medifast when they are busy. But honestly, I think being busy is an advantage. This diet is very convenient. You just grab the food and go so it doesn't take up a lot of your time. And in the beginning, you just want to create new habits. This is really just repetition. There is no need to over think it or make it more difficult than it really is.
So, it really is OK to continue on with your regular life. In fact, I really advocate being kind to yourself and incorporating pleasurable and fun things in your life when you start medifast. You want to have a positive experience. I began walking every afternoon with my dog and daughter. This gave me positive perceptions on my new lifestyle and it really helped with stress and doubt.
Don't Put Too Much Pressure On Yourself, But Set Yourself Up To Succeed: There's no question that seeing results as soon as possible is the primary goal of most people. This is understandable, but the diet is designed to work relatively quickly. Once your body gets into ketosis, you should begin burning fat more rapidly. So, there's no reason to put additional pressure on yourself. Sometimes, you just have to trust the process.
With that said, you can set yourself up to be successful. Don't skip the meals. Eat all five, plus your lean and green. And, while you don't have to go crazy with the exercise because again you don't want to stress yourself, you most certainly can incorporate walking, biking, or something else you enjoy into your routine to help with both stress relief and to ensure that you see the quick results that you want, especially at first.

Medifast Makes Weight Loss a Breeze By Jessica Winston

One of the things we have to contend with when we know we have to lose a few or a lot of extra pounds is our fear that we won't have the stamina to see it through - it will just take too long to reach our ideal weight. The other factor that puts a damper on the thoughts of going on yet another diet is the memory of restriction upon restriction of the foods we are "allowed" to eat. Somewhere in the back of our minds we secretly hope for a magic solution that will suddenly melt the pounds away like water evaporating on a hot day. In our reveries this happens while we happily indulge in tasty delicacies that please the palette and leave our bellies full and content. In other words, we want to have our cake, eat it and come out looking gorgeous.
Good news! The idea that dieting has to be hard work is passé. Diet plans such as Medifast now give us options that make our dream diets a reality. It's quite simple really, so simple that you don't really have to think too much about it. The plan is designed in such as way to make losing weight as easy as possible. The meals come in convenient individual packages that are mixed with water and then heated in the microwave or refrigerated. You don't have to focus your attention on planning meals, shopping and cooking that leaves you open to the temptation of foods that will "blow" your diet. There are many choices available that satisfy your desire for variety and flavors:
o Shakes
o Soups
o Stews
o Chili
o Oatmeal
o Scrambled eggs
o Fruit drinks
o Iced teas
o Hot beverages
o Bars
o Puddings
The magic behind the Medifast diet lies in the fact that it has been medically designed to create a calorie deficit. This means that your body is getting all the nutrition it needs, but it on the food plan it shifts into burning body fat for energy. The food formula if balanced nutritionally with an established combination of carbs and protein that allows you to shed fat quickly while maintaining lean muscle mass. Very soon after you go on the food plan you begin to see changes in your waistline and you'll notice that your clothes don't fit you quite the same way. The amount of weight you lose weekly is affected by factors such as how much you exercise, but on average people lose 2-5 lbs per week, proving that dieting can be easy and you can achieve what you set out to do.

Are There Any Diet Shakes Comparable to Medifast?

Of all of the over seventy foods (70) food options available on Medifast, the shakes are by far the most popular.  They are pretty tasty, quick, convenient, and easy.  Plus, they are nutritionally sound, full of protein and fiber, and low in sugar and carbohydrates.  This combination helps your body get into a metabolic state called ketosis which helps you to lose a lot of weight potentially quickly. So, there's a lot of interest in these and I sometimes get emails which ask if there are any that are as good or as effective.  I'll answer this question in the following article.
Shakes That You Can Get In The Grocery Store: A Slim Fast Comparison: I find that when many people ask this question, most are really asking about slim fast because you can buy these in any grocery or drug store.  They are readily available, but how good are they? Well, they aren't any cheaper than the Medifast shakes.  They're well over $2.00 each, which isn't any significant savings at all.  And, they are higher in calories, sugar, and carbohydrates.  Specifically, I'll look at the slim fast chocolate shake.  It has 200 calories, 18 grams of carbs (which is a lot), only 2 grams of protein, and only 4 grams of fiber.  In my opinion, this is too high of a calorie  / carb content to get you in ketosis. Most people don't understand this so they'll pick up a case thinking that they are really getting the same thing when in fact they are not.
In contrast, now I'll look at the Medifast 55 dutch chocolate version.  It has only 90 calories, 13 total carbs, 12 grams of protein, and five grams of fiber.  As you can see, the real difference is in the calories and the protein content and this can be very important.  The Medifast option has 1/2 the calories and six times as much protein.  This makes a big difference as far as ketosis goes.
Atkins Advantage option has some of the same problems and issues.  It has a whopping 160 calories and tastes a lot more chalky and artificial in my opinion.  The whole idea behind is these diet products is to consume less of what is bad for you and more of what is good for you.  These fall short of this in my opinion.
Shakes Aren't The Only Option: Another important thing to consider with medifast is that you aren't only limited to liquid options. There are over 70 foods so although these drinkable meals are tasty and filling, you can also get great results by consuming the eggs, oatmeal, chili, pudding, stew, bars, etc.
Of course, some people will want a diet where they can just pop the lid on their drink and off they go.  But, it's just as easy to peel the wrapper off a bar or to add milk to some pudding.  All of the foods have roughly the same nutritional make up, so you will get the same results no matter which "meal" that you chose.  Granted, the company does sell items individually, so you can limit yourself if you wish, but I think this eventually makes you burn out or cheat more quickly. I believe that variety is very important but this is just my experience and opinion.
Want more information on the diet's shakes or other foods? Lindsey's Medifast Review Website features recipes, a list of all of the foods (including all of the shake varieties and choices), videos, tips, coupons ($50 off or two weeks free),information and products related to success on this diet. What Are Medifast Substitutes? By Jason Main

Medifast is one of the most popular meal replacements of today. Medifast meal replacement is also called as Medifast substitutes. Ketosis is a metabolic state which is characterized by an increase in levels of ketone in the body and blood. This process occurs when the liver starts to convert fats into fatty acids. As this process continues, the energy produce can be used as a good alternative to glucose. Because it possesses low carbohydrate content and high protein instead, the body reacts in such a way that it burns fats rather than carbohydrates. As the body reaches this state, the body will feel less hungry but more energized instead. As a result, your craving's for food lessens.
The products are proven safe and effective. It helps consumers to either lose weight or to maintain their desired weight. The company itself has expanded their products to better cater for all kinds of consumer. They even tapped the market for diabetic patients. Most diabetic patients struggle in achieving and maintaining their desired weight. Diabetic patients even finds it difficult to accurately calculate the sugar or calorie intake each time they eat which puts their health at risks most of the time and so Medifast came up with a diet plan that is sure to give them the supposed nutrients that their body needs without risking their health.
Medifast substitutes can always be accompanied by regular exercise. Regular exercise can help you achieved your desire results faster. Discipline is essential. Follow the instructions carefully; trust the process and Medifast will do the rest.

Is Medifast Good For You? By Jason Main

In this day and age, health should be a person's priority. No product seems safe anymore, with all the added ingredients in them that can sometimes cause more harm than good. Food is no exception. With people's hectic schedules and busy lives, many now prefer buying food from fastfood chains to preparing their own meals. These meals may sate your hunger, but what is the major drawback? Fact is, fast food is loaded with massive amounts of unhealthy calories that can make a person overweight.
Many fad diets have arisen to cater for people's increased demand for a regimen that can help them lose weight. Others have tried depriving themselves of food, hoping to shed off the excess pounds. However, this is an unhealthy way to become slim. An individual may be able to lose weight by starving, but a decrease in weight is often associated with muscle loss instead of fat or calorie loss.
A diet that seems to be gaining a lot of popularity due to its effectiveness is the Medifast diet. The Medifast diet is a program that makes use of low-portion and low-fat meals to help an individual lose weight. The foods included in the Medifast diet contain fiber and essential nutrients necessary to keep the body healthy. So is Medifast good for you? The answer is yes. Why? This is because the diet places the body in a ketosis state. This makes the body turn on itself to burn off the excess calories and fats. This way, the body is continuously supplied with essential nutrients without adding any bulk to one's figure.
If you need a regimen to help you lose weight, then the Medifast diet is a good way to start. The question remains, is Medifast good for you? Why not try it and see the results for yourself?

How Do I Lose Weight Fast (and For Keeps!) - 3 Weight Loss Tips That Will Change Your Body Forever By Tina Bardo

In this article we are going to address a question we seem to get (and some of us ASK..:-) over and over and OVER again: "how do I lose weight fast.....and KEEP it off this time?" The sad truth is that for most of us, our weight struggles will be an ever present part of our lives...a defining and frustrating par of our personal journey highlighted by both triumph and defeat alike. It does NOT have to be that way....and I would argue, it shouldn't! You should be able to lose weight quickly and easily, starting today, and be able to keep it off in the weeks, months, years and even DECADES to come. Let's take a look at how many people are starting to do JUST that on a proven diet they can trust. Read on..:-)
Tip #1: You've Got To Get Good at Math
This reminds me of the old quote by Anthony Robbins which went, (and I'm paraphrasing for brevity) -" to learn how to eat A LOT, you've got to first learn to eat a little!" His secret to long life and maximum longevity was caloric control. The simple truth is that this STILL holds true today, and if you want to make a lasting change in your body, you've got to make sure the NUMBERS add up always! You need to burn 3500 calories for every pound you lose, and that's simply NOT going to change until we evolve further as a species..:-) Learn that now and reap the rewards for a lifetime!
Tip#2 Exercise may NOT be essential....but it sure does help!
Want to lose weight FAR faster than you ever have before...all while feeling healthier, happier and chock full of enthusiastic endorphins to boot? Start MOVING your body! The key is you've got to stir up the pot to really get AMAZING results in a hurry...and it always stuns me how many folks simply REFUSE to be active on the path to physical prosperity and wellness. God gave us all a body that is designed for action - put yours to good use and you WILL see (and feel) the difference!
Tip #3: The RIGHT weight Loss Plan is PARAMOUNTLY Important
Stop with the fad diets. Stop with the overnight weight loss pills, the diuretics, the rubber fat burning tummy bands and all of the other nonsense. Pick a program that is PROVEN to work, and works fast! I recommend Medifast...simply because it works in rapid fire turn around time, has helped ME, along with over a million other people just like us! But regardless of the program you pick - simply STOP choosing fads, scams and "secret" sauces which won't do ANYTHING but burn you in the end!
Remember - if you HAVEN'T been able to lose weight before...it's NOT your fault! Knowledge is POWER, and the most important step on the path to a firm, fit & beautiful body is information, EDUCATION and empowerment!

Meal Replacement Shakes For Quick Weight Loss By Marjorie Salada

Weight loss has become big business in this country as the number of overweight people increases. Meal replacement shakes are just one of the types of weight loss products that are growing in popularity. They have always been around, but they are being taken more seriously in recent years.
A meal replacement is normally a high protein bar or shake that is fortified with vitamins and nutrients. They are meant to be eaten in place of a meal. Medifast and Slimfast are examples of 2 of the more popular meal replacement diets that are available.
These meal replacement products make it easy to lose weight, if you follow the program as it was designed. These food plans can make your life easier and they take less than a weight loss plan where you are preparing the food yourself. Meal replacement diets consist of products that are ready to eat, but may require you to add water. The big advantage to meal replacement foods is you will lose weight quickly, because they consist of a minimal amount of calories. The down side of that is that may not always feel full.
It is recommended that you eat at least one sensible meal daily. It is not a good idea to cut food out completely. Personally, I have used these products and I always seem to be not quite satisfied. I can use them along with program that includes food, but to eat only one meal day does not work for me. For many people it does.
For somebody who requires structure and convenience, meal replacement diets are ideal. They can be ready at moments notice, they are very portable and can go anywhere with you and you can buy a months worth of meals at one time. This kind of weight loss plan works well in the society we live in today. People are always on the go and live life at a fast pace.
These diets are not for everybody, but they are another option you have available to you if you are looking for a weight loss program. The bottom line is the program that is going to work best for you is the one you can stick with. If you need a weight loss plan with some structure that is convenient, you should consider meal replacement shakes. They allow you to eat several times a day and can be the program that will help to lose the extra weight.

What is the Best Way to Lose Weight Fast? Finally! Super Quick Weight Loss Tips That Work! By Tina Bardo

Is fast weight loss safe? What is the best way to lose weight if I'm in a hurry? In this article we are going to take a quick look at some weight loss tips that work really quickly, and in the process, evaluate the best way I've found to lose weight safely as well! Curious to know more? Great... continue reading as we take a closer look below!
Okay...but I need to lose weight really fast! Can I lose 20 pounds in a month on your recommended plan?
The truth? I'm going to recommend a program that is ideal for losing 3-5 pounds per week - and that is a high protein, low calorie and carbohydrate diet that focuses on meal replacement. Why are these diets so effective for so many? Well, meal replacement diets that focus on liquids are particularly good due to the lowered stress placed on the digestive system, as well as their inherent low calorie composition, which "forces" the body into a state called ketosis.
Do all meal replacement diets work the same way?
No, they don't. We recommend Medifast above the others, but you have to choose the right program for you. In the end, the best way to lose weight with meal replacement is to make sure you stay beneath about 1200 calories per day. Pay particular attention to some of the program which focus on sugar rich "protein" bars, as these can often exceed 400 calories per pop! (and are more appropriate for weight lifters looking to GAIN weight instead)
The bottom line?
Forget all of the fads, the flaky philosophies and the fleeting ebooks and over hyped nonsense. For weight loss that endures, you need a solid, nutritionally sound and viable long term strategy! Meal replacement diets, in our view ( and in the opinion of over 15,000 doctors who recommend our favorite program specifically) is a great choice for life changing results...and fast!
